TWO BINUSIANS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE THIRD CONGRESS OF INDONESIAN DIASPORA IN JAKARTA

Indonesian Diaspora Global Network (IDN-Global) is once again set to hold its nation-wide event Congress of Indonesian Diaspora (CID), which comes third in the series thus far, on the 12th-14th August 2015 in Jakarta.

To take place in the Bidakara Convention Center, in Pancoran area, the congress is themed “Diaspora Bakti Bangsa” (diaspora devoted to the nation) was chosen to be the cornerstone for a series of events arranged during the congress. A number of public figures will reportedly attend the event, which is scheduled to be opened by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo.

The Congress will touch various matters in discussion sessions and these inspiring sessions will relate the themes to the role of Indonesian diaspora spread worldwide in contributing to the nation’s development. In the congress, issues to be raised in important discussions will cover livable cities, health, higher education, the economy, dual citizenship, maritime issues, the young generation and many more.

An issue that will attract a lot of attention among participants attending the event is education. Two themes, namely “Building World-Class Universities: Transforming Indonesian Higher Education” and “Promoting Cooperation with Indonesian Higher Educational Institutions”, will be profoundly discussed in the search of an answer for the challenging situation of Indonesian education.

Some of the best speakers in the field are confirmed to take part in this year’s event. They are Dr. Christine Ennew, Provost and CEO of the University of Nottingham’s Malaysia Campus; Dr. Herry Utomo, Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, USA; and Dr. Wei Siong Tan, President and CEO of AccuSentry, Inc., USA.

Being one of the best educational institutions in Indonesia, BINUS will not miss the opportunity to present its representatives in the event. Two BINUSIANs are set to participate and share their views regarding the themes raised in this year’s congress. The representatives wil be Dr. Syamil Ahmad, Deputy Dean of BINUS Business School and Karen Imam, M. I. B., Director of Binus Global.
