Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand Internationalisation Award
The radical changes in internationalisation of higher education through the promotion of international academic mobility have forced many countries around the world to develop national higher education strategies to attract more international students and staff and send more of their students abroad. Having said that, International Relations Office (IRO) plays a crucial role in facilitating an effective flow of students, academic professionals, researchers, and faculty members
in the region.
In an effort to recognise good practices and celebrate outstanding contribution of International Relations Office (IROs) to student mobility services, SEAMEO RIHED has proposed and developed a new initiative of Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand Internationalisation Award (M-I-T iAward) since 2011 for the pilot implementation in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
A total of 8 Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand nominated for the award. There were three nominated universities in Indonesia, namely Sebelas Maret University, BINUS University, and Sriwijaya University. Only one instution in each country will be selected. The assessment result was announced last December 2012 and BINUS University has been named as selected recipient of the 2012 M-I-T iAward from Indonesia along with Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia) and Mae Fah Luang University (Thailand).
